What free materials are offered by the Coffee Break Spanish programme?

Each week we publish a podcast which lasts between 15 and 20 minutes. This podcast is in mp3 format and is available to download from our site, or in a podcast format to which you can subscribe in iTunes or another podcast aggregator. In addition to the podcast, users can also access the Bulletin Board. You need to sign up to the Bulletin Board in order to use it, but there is no cost involved. See below for further information on the Bulletin Board. Other materials, including the enhanced version of the podcast, the weekly pdf guides, flashcards, and our weekly bonus podcast which uses music and relaxation techniques to enhance your learning all form part of the Premium Materials. Examples of all these elements can be found on this page.

Is Coffee Break Spanish really free?

Some listeners have asked us if "subscribing" to Coffee Break Spanish costs anything. The word "subscribe" is traditionally associated with a payment. However, "subscribing" to most podcasts is free. Again, the concept of the iTunes "Store" suggests that a payment is involved, but you can download all the basic content of Coffee Break Spanish for free.

How can Coffee Break Spanish be free? Are there hidden costs?

Coffee Break Spanish is a podcast offered by the Radio Lingua Network. The basic podcast will remain free. We do have production and development costs for all our podcasts. These costs are met by the combination of premium subscriptions and advertising, ensuring that the basic feed remains free.

Does Coffee Break Spanish offer live practice with native speakers or teachers via Skype?

This is not a service we offer at the moment, although we may consider providing this in the future. We would encourage listeners to use every opportunity to practise their language skills through all possible means, including over the internet. We would, however, strongly recommend that our younger listeners in particular consider very carefully what information they are happy to share with other listeners
